Ship Rock is a fun but challenging dive site located off the coast of Catalina Island, California. It rises up from the ocean floor to within 15 feet of the surface and is surrounded by deep water and strong currents. Divers can explore the rock's colorful marine life, including the rare giant black sea bass, but it is best suited for experienced divers who are comfortable with challenging conditions. The underwater terrain is a series of plateaus so beginning divers can still have an enjoyable experience in the shallower reef. Diving here is done as a boat dive.
